This story, originally published in The New York Times on Christmas Day 1990, is the literary basis for the recently released films, Smoke and Blue in the Face, by Paul Auster and Wayne Wang.

This edition, produced in England, is printed letterpress in two colors by Michael Mitchell of Libanus Press on Zerkall mound-made paper. An illustration from etched plates by Brian Cronin acts as a frontispiece. Endpapers are by Cockerell Marbled Papers. Binding is by The Fine Bindery. The text is set in Monotype Bembo with typography by Andrew Gray. 24 pages, 10 x 7.5 inches, 1992. Published jointly under the separate imprints of William Drenttel Editions (even numbered copies) and The Delos Press, England (odd numbered copies); generally, only Delos Press copies are available at this time from Winterhouse Editions.
